How Did The Goalie Mask Come Into Existence?
Goalie masks were first made with the intention of protecting the player. The goalie masks which are used by players nowadays also show the art involved in making them besides just reducing the risk of getting injured. The the idea of creating a goalie mask which is personalised makes it impossible to find a mask which resembles that of another player. Some player prefer to change their goalie mask each year. The players may also choose not to change their Vintage goalie masks. A Boston Bruins player is known for inventing the use of goalie mask in the 1960s. The symbolic stitches which were visible on the goaltender players were meant to show the damage which could be suffered if the player had not taken the initiative of wearing the goalie tender.
Despite the fact that people say that the goalie mask was first invented in the early 1950s, the people behind its invention were not the first ones to wear it. In the 1930s, Clint Benedict was recognised for wearing the Vintage mask because he had a hurting nose and did not want to incur more injuries on it. A Japanese player also wore a cage mask which resembles a mask which is usually used by baseball catchers. One of the so many goalie masks which are available include the one used by the Plante and it is made of fibreglass with the intention of covering the player’s face. The goaltender did not have any other option of covering his injury other than wearing a goalie mask. There are so many other players who sued the goalie mask just like this player although this kind of cover was later immortalised by a person known as Jason. Note that the last people to play NHL goalie without wearing the veil are Pittburgh and Andy Brown back in the year 1974.
Years later; people invented other goalie masks for players. Due to the improvements in making of the goalie masks, the hockey helmet could be made too. This type of goalie masks was initially fully spread in Europe although it was later embraced in North America. Some of the people who were the first ones to win these goalie masks includes Dominic Hasek, Bill Smith among others. It is worth noting that the wire face cage has with time lost its popularity because it is alleged to provide minimal protection to the players. Note that the enclosures which are made in the world are very advanced and excellent. They are made in such a way that they protect the user’s face as well as the other parts of the head. One can find a goalie mask for any person who is a player despite their age and the game they play.
